SSC Napoli’s injury crisis has intensified, particularly affecting the defensive line and midfield. Manager Massimiliano Allegri is managing approximately 11 sidelined players, with recent absences exacerbated by international duty. Key players missing significant time include Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci, André-Frank Anguissa, Mathias Olivera, and Antonio Vergara. Additionally, Costantino Favasuli is now expected to be sidelined for one to two months.

Goalkeeper Alex Meret has also missed recent matches, while Scott McTominay is sidelined for four matches following a minor cardiac procedure. This pattern of physical setbacks, often involving muscle injuries, has raised questions regarding player workload management, drawing comparisons to issues experienced during the previous tenure of Antonio Conte.

Parallel to these struggles, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is advancing plans for a new stadium in the Q8 area of San Giovanni a Teduccio. De Laurentiis views planned renovations for the Maradona stadium as insufficient and seeks a modern facility capable of seven-day-a-week use, especially as the current convention for the Maradona is set to expire in 2028.

As Napoli prepares to host sixth-place Frosinone at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, the squad remains depleted. The total number of matches missed by unavailable personnel has reached 27. Antonio Vergara is expected to remain out for at least a month due to a calf injury, and Favasuli’s absence is noted as a “major blow” due to his tactical versatility.

However, there are signs of recovery: Meret, Spinazzola, and Giovane have returned to the group. Furthermore, Scott McTominay has received medical clearance to resume training following his procedure for a “benign heart arrhythmia,” though his reintegration will be managed carefully.
