Standard Chartered has expanded its digital asset services for institutional clients in the United Arab Emirates. Through its entity in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the bank launched institutional spot trading for Bitcoin and Ether.

This service allows eligible asset managers and family offices to execute deliverable spot trades via existing electronic trading and foreign exchange interfaces. The offering integrates with the bank’s digital-asset custody solution to provide a regulated platform for execution, custody, and USDC minting and redemption. The service is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).

With this launch, Standard Chartered becomes the first Global Systemically Important Bank (G-SIB) to offer deliverable crypto spot trading in the Gulf region. The service builds upon the bank’s existing digital-asset custody services in the UAE, which were established in September 2024. Clients have the option to utilize the bank’s proprietary custody solutions or select alternative custodians for settlement. This expansion follows a similar initiative launched by the bank’s UK subsidiary in July 2025 and is part of a broader strategy to integrate digital assets into regulated banking frameworks, encompassing custody, trading, and tokenization capabilities for the bank’s Corporate and Investment Bank.
