During a panel at New York Comic Con, Paramount+ announced that the second season of ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ is scheduled to premiere in March 2027. This upcoming season will serve as the series' final chapter.

Showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau indicated the new season will follow cadets during their second year aboard the USS Athena, focusing on themes of leadership, diplomacy, and internal rivalries. The production aims to attract younger fans by blending legacy elements with new perspectives, including a ‘Top Gun in space’ style episode involving the Nova Squadron.

New cast members joining the production include Bill Nighy, portraying Nyk Ake, and Rosemarie DeWitt, appearing as Laytha Sadal. The panel also featured series regulars such as Holly Hunter, Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané, Bella Shepard, and Robert Picardo.
