Since July 2026, the Congress-led Telangana government has faced mounting opposition over electoral roll revisions, agricultural procurement, and water management. While the administration reported record paddy procurement, opposition parties—including the BRS and BJP—accused the state of stalling procurement and withholding essential supplies.

In response to ongoing disputes, the government has intensified its focus on accountability and infrastructure. Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy ordered a comprehensive audit of paddy procurement dating back to 2014 to examine rice milling operations and recover public funds. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has further directed officials to recover outstanding dues from defaulting rice millers under the Custom Milled Rice system, proposing that defaulting mills could be reassigned to women’s self-help groups.

Regarding irrigation, following a Supreme Court judgment on environmental clearances, Minister Reddy urged a time-bound approach to secure approvals for the Palamuru-Rangareddy, Sitaramasagar, Dindi, and Gouravelli lift irrigation projects.

As the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls progresses, Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy has released draft rolls following an enumeration phase where approximately 78.30 per cent of forms were collected. Approximately 92 lakh electors are expected to receive notices, including 32 lakh unmapped voters and 60 lakh electors with detail anomalies. A claims and objections phase is underway until September 16, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on October 19.
