# STEM teacher recruitment initiatives in Germany

The MILeNa project (STEM Teacher Recruitment) has launched in Germany to address an urgent shortage of teachers in mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, and technology (STEM/MINT) subjects. 

The initiative provides students from the 10th grade and above with practical experience through school-based assistance and university workshops. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the IGS Johanna Loewenherz is among six pioneer schools participating in the program. 

Participants engage in activities at institutions such as the University of Duisburg-Essen and the University of Münster to develop skills in presentation, communication, and didactics. The project functions as both a practical internship and a career orientation tool for future educators.
