Step Terminal (StepFun) has introduced the STEPX Neo, a smartphone centered on an integrated AI agent named Amoo. The device utilizes the Step AOS 1.0 operating system, which is designed to facilitate autonomous task execution rather than traditional manual app operation.

Technical specifications include a hybrid processing model that uses local models for speed and privacy alongside cloud-based models for complex tasks. The hardware features a six-microphone array, the Whisper 1.0 algorithm for voice recognition, and a secondary MiniLED dot matrix screen on the back to display the agent’s status.

Priced at 3,999 yuan, the launch includes a bundle of hardware, the operating system, developer tools, and a 12-month token subscription. StepFun, which has support from Tencent, has established partnerships with approximately 100 companies, such as Alipay, Meituan, and Didi, to integrate the Amoo agent into a wider ecosystem.
