# Student murder in Chennai

In Tiruvottiyur, Chennai, six individuals were arrested following the murder of 16-year-old Class 12 student Dhanush on August 14. 

Preliminary investigations indicate the killing was the result of a dispute regarding seniority between Class 11 and Class 12 students. Following a heated argument two days prior, which teachers had reportedly attempted to resolve, the conflict escalated. Dhanush was allegedly lured to a vacant field behind a bus terminus by a group of approximately 10 students and former students, where he sustained severe injuries. He was declared dead upon arrival at Stanley Government Hospital. 

Tiruvottiyur police have registered a murder case and are working to identify additional suspects. The victim's parents have reportedly refused to receive his body, demanding justice.
