Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) has entered a phase of operational and fleet expansion in Vietnam. Following the receipt of its initial Air Operator Certificate in September 2025, the airline received approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to operate wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft, enabling targets for long-haul destinations including Europe, Central Asia, Russia, Japan, and Australia.

In September 2026, the airline reported a nearly 38% increase in international flight volume, rising from 414 to 570 flights. This growth increased the proportion of international operations within its total commercial flights to 18.5%. During this period, SPA launched a Hanoi-Hong Kong route and became the second airline in Vietnam to implement a Centralized Load Control (CLC) system. Despite a 17% industry-wide decline in flight volume due to the domestic low season, SPA maintained an on-time performance (OTP) rate of 86.8%, exceeding the industry average of 78.4%. Specifically, the airline recorded an 88% OTP at its Phu Quoc base and 87.2% at Tan Son Nhat. The carrier’s first Airbus A330 arrived on September 22 and entered commercial service on October 3.

Expanding its reach into the Indian market, SPA announced it will launch direct flights between Ahmedabad and Phu Quoc on December 3, 2026. Utilizing Airbus A321neo aircraft, the service will initially operate five times per week, with plans for daily service by early February 2027. The airline intends to launch additional routes to other Indian cities in the first quarter of 2027 and expects its fleet to grow to 33 aircraft by the end of 2026 and 58 aircraft by the end of 2027.
