Sources: 13. Developments: 2. Following their promotion to the Premier League, Sunderland AFC has faced a challenging transition period under manager Régis Le Bris. While the club initially balanced domestic competition with Europa League participation, recent performance has declined. As of early November, the team sits at the bottom of the Premier League table. The squad has struggled with defensive consistency, having conceded 17 goals in nine matches. Following a 3-1 loss to Coventry City, Le Bris has discussed potential tactical adjustments regarding the team's shape and pressing methods, though he has emphasized the need to maintain the club's identity. Ahead of an upcoming fixture against Chelsea at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland faces selection challenges due to the suspension of defender Omar Alderete. This absence is expected to lead Le Bris to recall Nordi Mukiele to the starting lineup. Meanwhile, Le Bris has expressed optimism regarding a rematch with Coventry City, noting that despite a demanding schedule, the period offers an opportunity to establish the team's identity in this new chapter of competition. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-05: Chelsea face injury concerns ahead of Sunderland match Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso confirmed injuries to Joao Pedro, Maxence Lacroix, and Jorrel Hato ahead of their match against bottom-placed Sunderland. 11 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sunderland-prepares-for-chelsea-match-amid-league-struggles ### 2026-10-30: Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris prepares for Coventry City rematch Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris remains positive ahead of a match against Coventry City as the club manages the demands of Premier League and Europa League competition. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sunderland-manager-rgis-le-bris-prepares-for-coventry-city-rematch --- Cite as: Sunderland AFC Premier League campaign.
