Authorities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have seized approximately 1,000 shipping containers and heavy vehicles to block supply routes and manage planned political marches. This measure has caused significant economic and logistical disruptions.

Transporters reported losses of roughly Rs. 280 million due to the detention of equipment, with daily losses estimated at Rs. 20,000 per container. These delays include mounting demurrage and detention charges. Concerns were raised regarding the detention of containers holding essential medicines and other high-value goods.

The seizures have also disrupted the supply of perishables, including meat, milk, fruits, and vegetables, from various cities. Wholesale dealers warned that if the situation continued, shortages of staples such as sugar, flour, and pulses would intensify, with some prices potentially rising by 100 per cent. To avoid further seizures, some transport owners have begun hiding vehicles in remote areas.
