The national school feeding program has expanded to include 316 schools for the 2026/2027 school year. To support the delivery of daily meals and bread to approximately 34,000 students, the program is increasing its delivery zones from 18 to 34. There is also an ongoing effort to incorporate more locally produced food into the school meals to support regional production. Complementing these efforts, a new agricultural training program has launched for students in the Marowijne, Brokopondo, and Sipaliwini districts.
