Suriname is pursuing various strategic development goals across its aviation, infrastructure, and regional sectors. In the aviation industry, the government has entered into a partnership with France to foster technical cooperation and address connectivity between Paramaribo and Cayenne. This includes specialized training for the Civil Aviation Authority Suriname (CASAS) funded by the French Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) and a Civil Aviation Master Plan training program conducted with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

On a regional level, the government is focusing on developing the country’s interior by transforming specific areas into strategic centers to improve access to basic services and economic opportunities. During the eighteenth Ministerial Forum for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean in Panama, Minister of Regional Development Miquella Huur outlined plans to transform Apoera, Atjoni, Snesikondre, and Stoelmanseiland into regional centers. Key infrastructure projects include the restoration of approximately 90 kilometers of existing roads and the construction of 30 kilometers of new road connections in the Upper Suriname area to enhance accessibility to schools, healthcare, and agricultural zones.

The government is also prioritizing climate-resilient agriculture, noting that 90 students from Marowijne, Brokopondo, and Sipaliwini have begun agricultural training programs. Minister Huur emphasized the importance of collective land rights for indigenous and tribal peoples, stating that Suriname is working toward a land rights conference in 2027. Additionally, she called for international financing that recognizes the vulnerabilities of forest-rich nations, noting that Suriname remains nearly 93 percent forested despite threats from rising sea levels and flooding.
