The city of Surrey is launching a new round of its online tree sale program on August 18. Residents can purchase approximately 1,000 fruit and ornamental trees, including apple, cherry, plum, dogwood, maple, and magnolia, for $20 each.

Participation is limited to two trees per person on a first-come, first-served basis. Trees, ranging from five to 12 feet tall, are scheduled for pickup at the Surrey Operations Centre on September 18. Urban forestry manager Rob Landucci emphasized that homeowner participation is vital because more than half of the city’s tree canopy is located on private property. Since the program began, more than 25,000 trees have been purchased. A subsequent sale is scheduled to open on September 29.
