Following the discovery of suspicious objects believed to be unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) off the coast of Akçakoca in Düzce, Turkish authorities have expanded their investigations. In addition to the Akçakoca discovery, a suspicious object fell into a hazelnut orchard in Yeşilköy Village, prompting security forces to secure the area and launch a judicial investigation. Another object washed ashore on the Yeniköy coast in Arnavutköy, with preliminary assessments suggesting it “may be related to the Russia-Ukraine war.”

The situation escalated on the Karaburun coast in Arnavutköy, where citizens spotted a UAV suspected of carrying ammunition, leading to the deployment of SAS commandos and the decision to destroy the device on-site. 

A third UAV has now been discovered off the coast of Bartın near Kapısuyu village, marking the third such find in the Black Sea region within a 70-day period. Unlike the Arnavutköy find, initial inspections of the Bartın drone indicate it contains no ammunition. The device is constructed from lightweight materials, including styrofoam, wooden propellers, and plastic screws. Experts suggest these UAVs may be of Russian origin and similar to models used in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Technical analysis of these objects is expected to continue in Ankara to determine their exact specifications and origins.
