The Suwałki municipal government is advancing the ‘Zielone Suwałki’ (Green Suwałki) project, an initiative to create 9 hectares of new green space across 12 locations. 

Two stages of the project have reached completion. At the III High School, concrete and asphalt surfaces were replaced with trees, shrubs, and amphitheater-style seating. A second stage at the intersection of Kolejowa and Utrata streets involved lawn renovation and the planting of native deciduous trees, shrubs, and perennials to improve drought resistance and support local fauna. 

Future developments include landscaping near Świerkowa and Nowomiejska streets, the planting of 100 large trees, and the removal of concrete surfaces near the PKS bus station, Maria Konopnicka Square, and Muzyczna Street. These investments are supported by the ‘European Funds for Podlaskie 2021-2027’ program.
