Following the viral spread of a video in June showing a man staggering with a hunched posture near a bus stop in Suwon, South Korean authorities launched an investigation into suspected drug use.

Initially, the suspect denied using methamphetamine, attributing his physical state to prescribed psychiatric medication. While an early urine test was negative, police later discovered methamphetamine during a search of his residence and confirmed its presence through hair follicle testing. 

By mid-September, the suspect confessed to using methamphetamine while abroad earlier in the year, though he maintained he had not used the drug within South Korea. The Suwon Kwonseon Police Station announced the individual would be transferred to the prosecution, and investigations continue into an accomplice suspected of providing psychotropic substances.
