Swedish athletes have achieved success across various regional and international competitions in orienteering and track and field.

In regional championships, junior athletes secured multiple medals. In orienteering, Elsa Persson won gold in the D15 sprint and silver in the long-distance event at the Swedish Youth Championships, while Ludwig Rosén won gold in the H20 category at the Swedish Championships in Breanäs. In track and field, Tove Fredin set a club record with a silver medal in high jump at the Götaland Championships.

On the international stage, Tove Alexandersson won the gold medal in the long-distance event at the European Orienteering Championships in Lithuania, finishing with a 49-second lead over Switzerland’s Simona Aebersold. Alexandersson noted the difficulty of the terrain, specifically a challenging moment where she became stuck in a heavily wooded green area. Sweden also secured multiple podium positions during this event, with Sanna Fast taking bronze and Sara Hagström finishing fifth.

Sweden further established itself as the top nation at the championships through additional relay and individual successes. The women’s relay team, composed of Hanna Lundberg, Sanna Fasth, and Tove Alexandersson, won gold, finishing 49 seconds ahead of Switzerland despite Lundberg encountering stinging nettles and Alexandersson suffering a heavy fall. In individual competition, Hanna Lundberg secured her first European Championship gold in the middle distance event, while Anton Johansson earned silver. Additionally, the Swedish men’s second relay team claimed a bronze medal.
