Major symphony orchestras in Montreal and Madrid have launched their 2026-2027 seasons with performances of works by Gustav Mahler.

In Montreal, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal opened its season at the Maison symphonique under conductor Rafael Payare. The program included selections from ‘Des Knaben Wunderhorn’ and the performance of ‘Das klagende Lied’, a work the orchestra has not staged since 1989.

In Madrid, the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM) began its season at the Auditorio Nacional de Música with Mahler’s Third Symphony, conducted by Alondra de la Parra. The ORCAM season is scheduled to include 18 concerts across Symphonic and Chamber Music cycles, featuring works by Beethoven, Bruckner, and Falla.
