The Municipality of Syros-Hermoupolis has engaged in diverse activities involving international promotion and local governance. In early October, the municipality hosted an international press mission featuring major American and global media outlets to promote the island’s history, culture, and gastronomy as a destination beyond traditional tourism.

By late October, the municipality faced criticism regarding its representation at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the South Aegean Decentralized Administration (PED). Critics noted that the municipality was not represented by its elected Mayor or any other elected official, but rather by a private individual, a seconded employee, and the General Secretary of the Municipality. This absence has led to accusations of undermining local institutional processes.
