The third round of the Taça de Portugal featured several high-profile upsets where lower-division clubs eliminated top-tier teams. Notable exits included Santa Clara, who lost 3-2 to Liga 3 side Mafra, and several other Primeira Liga teams such as Nacional, Moreirense, and Famalicão.

One significant result involved Centro Desportivo de Fátima, a fourth-tier club, defeating first-division side Académico de Viseu 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Lucas Russo. Club president António Pereira described the victory as a ‘miracle’ and noted it was the first time Fátima has eliminated a team from the I Liga during the tournament.

While many top-flight clubs were eliminated, others such as Casa Pia, Marítimo, Vitória de Guimarães, and Estoril Praia successfully progressed to the fourth round.
