The 24th Taiwan Pride Parade in Taipei featured participation from various political groups. Vice President Hsiao Mei-ching was scheduled to attend a press conference regarding the event, which the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supported under the theme “DPP holds you tight” to advocate for gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights.

As the 2026 local elections approach, the DPP established guidelines prohibiting party members and candidates from engaging in electioneering, such as using campaign slogans or soliciting votes, during the parade.

Kuomintang Chairperson Cheng Li-wen offered virtual support for the parade, which coincided with Halloween. While unable to attend in person due to campaign commitments, Cheng shared a video dressed as Maleficent, noting that letting go of prejudice allows for the understanding of a person’s true nature and that sincere love deserves respect regardless of labels.
