Taiwanese communities continue to host various celebrations to honor family connections, elders, and traditional customs. Grandparents Day festivities have expanded across several counties to promote intergenerational harmony and filial piety.

In Chiayi County, the ‘Grandchildren and Grandparents Joyful Show’ featured nine teams performing dance, drama, and musical acts. During these celebrations, officials including Legislator Tsai Yi-yu and County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang emphasized the vital role grandparents play in preserving local languages and culture, such as Taiwanese and Hakka. Magistrate Weng also highlighted the necessity of family companionship and the early recognition of dementia to support healthy aging.

Pingtung County held a ‘Generations of Gratitude’ celebration at the Pingtung County Stadium, involving over 500 participants and performances from local senior learning centers. At this gathering, Magistrate Chou Chun-mi announced upcoming welfare policies, including dental care subsidies and health insurance subsidies for residents aged 65 and older, effective January 2027.

In Taitung, the Taitung County I-Kuan Tao Association organized a gratitude sharing session and arts performance, utilizing musical acts and spiritual lectures to encourage filial piety and community engagement.

Other regional initiatives focus on youth development and cultural integration. Coming-of-age ceremonies for 16-year-olds in Tainan and Taoyuan utilized traditional rituals, such as bowing to parents, to encourage social responsibility. Additionally, community programs include a social-emotional learning camp for children in Shui Li and a star-themed festival in Qingjing that integrates indigenous Seediq culture with celestial observation.

Recent Grandparents Day celebrations have continued this trend of regional engagement. In Changhua County, Tianwei Township recognized exemplary families for their community involvement and intergenerational learning. In Hualien, Ji'an Township utilized theatrical performances to engage families through storytelling and shared memories.
