Japan national team defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is set to miss international fixtures in September and October following a calf injury. The Crystal Palace player sustained the injury during a Premier League match against Leeds United on September 20, requesting a substitution at halftime.

However, recent updates confirm that Tomiyasu will miss the UEFA Europa League match against Lyon. Manager Pierre Sage noted during a pre-match press conference that Tomiyasu is unavailable alongside other players, including Jean-Philippe Mateta, Dean Henderson, and Ben Chilwell. Tomiyasu’s absence continues to impact both his club and the Japan national team following the injury sustained in late September.

Following the Lyon fixture, Tomiyasu faces an extended absence due to a new, separate injury. Manager Pierre Sage confirmed ahead of the Europa League match against Besiktas that the defender has sustained an injury distinct from his previous calf issue. Reports indicate he will likely remain unavailable until after the late November international break, missing club fixtures against Newcastle, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Hoffenheim, and Liverpool, as well as further Japan national team duties. His return to action is estimated to be approximately one month away.
