AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami joined these critiques, alleging increased costs for essential commodities like rice and cooking oil, alongside failures in public safety and rising dengue cases. While opposition leaders express growing dissatisfaction, the state government has continued economic efforts, such as signing an agreement with Wall Greens India Private Limited to establish Global Capacity Centres in Chennai.

As of late September, political activity has shifted toward the Madurantakam and Dharapuram assembly by-elections scheduled for October 6. These contests follow the resignations of AIADMK MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel and P. Sathyabama, who joined the ruling TVK. The elections have become a multi-cornered battle involving the TVK, AIADMK, DMK, and Left parties, with the PMK announcing it will not support any party. 

Campaigning is intensifying, with TVK President C. Joseph Vijay, AIADMK’s Edappadi K. Palaniswami, and DMK’s MK Stalin all scheduled for high-profile rallies. Amidst the campaigning, Dravidar Kazhagam President K. Veeramani remarked that the current administration appears to be running a ‘show’ rather than providing genuine governance.
