In late October 2026, the delegation met with Canadian Foreign Affairs officials to demand an independent international forensic investigation into the Semmani mass graves, where 583 sets of human remains were discovered. Sridharan requested international expertise to ensure transparency and raised issues regarding land occupations and enforced disappearances. On October 28, 2026, Sridharan met in Ottawa with representatives from Canada’s Conservative Party, including MPs Shuvaloy Majumdar and Costas Menegakis. During this meeting, he urged Canada to lead the way in lifting sanctions imposed on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), arguing that because 17 years have passed since the end of the armed conflict, Canada should reconsider its position and ‘serve as a guide for other nations to follow suit.’ The discussions with the Conservative Party also reiterated the urgent need for international forensic assistance and modern investigative equipment to ensure transparent and credible investigations into the human remains found in the mass graves in Chemmani, Jaffna. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-28: Sri Lanka faces African Swine Fever outbreaks in six districts African Swine Fever has been confirmed in 48 farms across six Sri Lankan districts, affecting approximately 200 pigs. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sivagnanam-sridharan-calls-for-canada-to-lift-ltte-ban ### 2026-10-24: Sivagnanam Sridharan calls for international probe into Semmani mass graves MP Sivagnanam Sridharan met Canadian officials in Ottawa to demand an international forensic probe into the Semmani mass graves and the return of occupied lands in Sri Lanka. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sivagnanam-sridharan-calls-for-international-probe-into-semmani-mass-graves --- Cite as: Tamil National Alliance advocacy in Canada.
