Tamworth held its inaugural City of Lights Festival, an event designed to celebrate the city’s history as one of the first in the Southern Hemisphere to implement electric street lighting.

Organized by the Tamworth Business Collective and funded by the NSW government’s Regional Night-Time Economy Program, the festival featured light installations, projection art, and live music in Bicentennial Park and Fitzroy Plaza. The event aimed to reinvigorate the central business district and support the local night-time economy.

Following the festival’s attendance of thousands, organizers announced a ‘Light Up Late Series’ to be held on the second Friday of October, November, February, and March to maintain economic momentum.
