# Tamworth man facing negligent driving charge

A 39-year-old man from Tamworth is scheduled to appear in Narrabri Local Court in February 2027 to contest a charge of negligent driving occasioning death. The charge stems from a fatal collision on the Kamilaroi Highway near Wee Waa on August 17, 2025, involving a semi-trailer, a tractor, and a horse truck towing a caravan. 

The collision resulted in the death of a teenage boy at the scene. While the drivers of the tractor and semi-trailer were uninjured, the driver of the horse truck received treatment for leg injuries. The man has pleaded not guilty following the withdrawal of a previous charge of dangerous driving occasioning death by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
