Boston Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck is progressing through rehabilitation following a hybrid reconstruction of his right ulnar collateral ligament and flexor tendon performed in August 2025. 

After participating in scrimmage action in Fort Myers, Houck was scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. The initial phase of the assignment involves pitching approximately 20 pitches, with plans to increase his workload to the 40-to-45 pitch range in subsequent outings. 

While Houck has not pitched in a competitive game since May 2025, his return to a starting role remains uncertain for the remainder of the season. Interim manager Chad Tracy indicated that Houck could potentially serve in a relief role late in the regular season due to time constraints.
