Taranto FC has begun its season in the Eccellenza Puglia championship with a 4-0 victory over Spinazzola. This win, featuring goals from Monetti, Corvino, and Di Paolantonio, also served to nullify the team’s standing penalty.

Following this success and a subsequent win against Racale, the club secured a successful Coppa Italia performance against Ostuni. Following the cup match, player Umberto Monetti expressed confidence in the team’s tactical management and versatility. He noted that the squad is prepared to face Canosa in their upcoming league match, emphasizing the team’s goal to secure a victory despite the strength of their next opponent.

Under new coach Luca Tiozzo, the club has since secured four consecutive victories across league and Coppa Italia matches. A 3-1 win against Ostuni secured a second-round berth in the Coppa Italia Eccellenza. Tiozzo highlighted the team’s increased defensive solidity, squad depth, and the ability to apply pressure even when not in possession. The squad’s competitiveness is further evidenced by eight different scorers recorded so far this season.

As the team prepares for a critical match against Canosa, who currently sit three points ahead in the standings, Taranto will be bolstered by the return of midfielder Angelo Bonavolontà. However, a potential transfer for Romanian player Dragus Albu has collapsed due to disagreements regarding terms.
