Developments: 5. Canadian pop singer Tate McRae announced the upcoming release of her single ‘Housewife’, scheduled for October 15, 2026. The announcement included artwork featuring the singer alongside a stroller filled with cash, following her previous success with the album ‘So Close to What’. Prior hints of this artistic direction were noted during her Lollapalooza performance in Chicago, which featured Greco-Roman visuals under the concept ‘The Anatomy of a Popstar’. On October 15, the single was officially released through RCA Records. The track represents a stylistic shift toward a psychedelic pop aesthetic, incorporating dance and electronic elements. Lyrically, the song explores themes of femininity, independence, and the subversion of traditional domestic roles to focus on personal ambition and self-determination. The release was accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti and filmed in the South of France, featuring choreography by Sergio Reis. The video utilizes luxury settings such as a mansion, a pool, and a yacht, and contains stylistic nods to Britney Spears, including a sailor cap reminiscent of the ‘Toxic’ music video and scenes involving tabloid reading similar to ‘Piece of Me’. Following its release, ‘Housewife’ debuted at number one on both the US and Global Spotify streaming charts, garnering over 5.67 million worldwide streams on its first day. On October 18, McRae performed the single live at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles. By late October, the single held the number one position on the Spotify Global chart for a week with over 39 million streams, topping charts in Australia, Germany, Austria, Ireland, and Norway. Despite this streaming dominance, the track is projected to miss the number one spot on the US Billboard charts due to high radio airplay for Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Tate McRae leads Spotify Global charts with 'Housewife Tate McRae’s new single ‘Housewife’ has topped the Spotify Global charts and reached number one in multiple countries, despite facing competition from Ella Langley on the US Billboard charts. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tate-mcrae-leads-spotify-global-charts-with-housewife ### 2026-10-21: Tate McRae releases new single and music video Housewife Canadian pop singer Tate McRae has released “Housewife,” a new single and music video filmed in the South of France that explores themes of independence and autonomy. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tate-mcrae-releases-new-single-and-music-video-housewife ### 2026-10-18: Tate McRae releases new single ‘Housewife’ and performs at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Tate McRae releases new single ‘Housewife’ and delivers a standout performance at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles. 14 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tate-mcrae-performs-at-victorias-secret-fashion-show ### 2026-10-16: Tate McRae debuts new single ‘Housewife’ at number one on Spotify Tate McRae’s new single ‘Housewife’ has debuted at number one on the US and Global Spotify charts, accompanied by a cinematic music video filmed in the South of France. 13 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tate-mcrae-releases-new-single-housewife ### 2026-10-08: Tate McRae announces new single ‘Housewife’ Canadian pop star Tate McRae has announced her new single ‘Housewife’, set for release on October 15, 2026, signaling a new era for the artist. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tate-mcrae-announces-new-single-housewife --- Cite as: Tate McRae music release and performance.
