Authorities in the Tatra Mountains are addressing two distinct issues: seasonal trail management and a new safety trend involving social media. 

In the Polish Tatra Mountains, park rangers and guides have reported an increase in masked tourists who film high-altitude climbs to maintain anonymity for social media. Piotr Mazik, a representative of the Tatra guides association, warned that these videos may create a “false impression of safety,” potentially leading unprepared individuals to attempt dangerous peaks such as Gerlachovský štít, Pyšný štít, and Žabí kôň. While masking faces does not violate park regulations, authorities noted they may attempt to identify individuals if rules are broken, especially given risks from late-season snowfall and avalanche warnings.

On the Slovak side, Tatranský národný park (TANAP) has implemented seasonal closures for selected high-mountain trails above the treeline, effective from November 1 until May 31. These restrictions aim to protect wildlife, such as the Tatra chamois, during winter preparation. While some routes like the ascent to Predné Solisko remain open, other areas are restricted to ensure animal conservation.
