The TCS Sydney Marathon, an Abbott World Marathon Major, recently saw Ethiopia’s Addisu Gobena set a new course record with a time of 2:04:42. However, the event faced administrative challenges, including significant timing errors where a runner who dropped out was erroneously listed with a world record time, and the incorrect winner was announced during the finish-line ceremony.

Following the race, the global ballot for the marathon has opened, with registration available until 19 October. The course for the event is designed to include the Sydney Harbour Bridge and conclude at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt.
