A Tehran woman has been convicted of murdering her husband by poisoning him. Following a forensic examination that confirmed the cause of death was the consumption of poisoned pills, investigations revealed the woman had been involved in an emotional relationship with an accomplice, referred to as an ‘attar’. 

The woman confessed to replacing her husband’s medical capsules with poisoned ones to facilitate a marriage to her lover. The accomplice also admitted to helping her acquire the toxins under the false pretext that they were needed for scientific research by a non-existent student. The Tehran Criminal Court issued the guilty verdict following investigations that began in early 1403 after the man's suspicious death.
