The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has leveled several allegations against the Telangana government regarding land management and administration.

Initially, BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded an investigation into the allotment of approximately five acres of government land to Tesseract Advanced Systems Private Limited. The BRS alleged the land, valued at roughly Rs 200 crore, was allotted for approximately Rs 7 crore to a company reportedly linked to the brother of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The party raised concerns over the company’s minimal capital and lack of employees, vowing to seek transparency through the Governor and the courts.

Subsequently, BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao intensified criticism regarding the Section 22A prohibited land list. During a protest in Malkajgiri, Rao demanded the resignation of Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, accusing the administration of arbitrarily adding hundreds of thousands of private properties and entire colonies to the list. This action prohibits the sale and registration of land, which Rao claims has caused widespread anxiety among property owners in regions such as Rangareddy and Medchal.

Rao noted that many of these lands had been regularized following the 2008 repeal of the Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) Act. He further alleged rumors of a ‘30 per cent charge’ required to remove properties from the prohibited list, suggesting potential corruption. The BRS has called for the government to release a white paper detailing all lands added to the prohibited list since December 7, 2023, to ensure transparency.
