Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern AG and Auto AG Uri have launched a new Setra S 531 DT double-decker bus service on the ‘Tellbus’ express line 944, connecting Luzern and Altdorf in Switzerland. 

Named after the folk hero Wilhelm Tell, the vehicle features a gold-silver livery and a glass roof. The service utilizes the A2 motorway and Seelisberg Tunnel to complete the journey in approximately 45 minutes, which is faster than the existing rail connection. 

The bus accommodates 79 passengers with specialized upholstery and club tables, while providing accessibility features such as low-floor entries and dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility. Technical safety specifications include the MirrorCam system for an expanded field of view and the ABA 6 emergency brake assist, which uses radar and camera sensors to perform automated stops.
