Tenerife Shipyards has advanced the development of its new Hidramamar Ultra 22000 floating dry dock in the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Following an official inauguration attended by the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, the project represents a 40.7 million euro investment, with half of the funding provided by the Spanish government and the European Union’s Feder program.

The facility, which measures 240 meters in length, is designed to double the Canary Islands’ previous maximum repair capacity by accommodating Panamax-sized vessels up to 22,000 deadweight tons.

Subsequent technical milestones included the successful completion of immersion testing in the port’s Eastern Basin. This test verified the structure’s watertightness, hydrostatic response, and the functionality of its pumping system. The project is expected to generate approximately 150 direct and 300 indirect jobs.
