In early October 2026, the university’s affiliated units participated in the Vallet Scholarship ceremony in Hanoi, where 12 students received grants totaling 408 million VND. This included representation from the TNU branch in Lao Cai province, highlighting academic achievements in mountainous and border regions. Following this, TNU and the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee moved to expand their cooperation. The partnership focuses on human resource training, science, technology, and digital transformation. Key developments include a proposal to establish a TNU Training, Science, Technology, and Innovation Center in Lao Cai and a potential agreement in principle to form a second TNU campus in the province, possibly utilizing the former Yen Bai Pedagogical College site.
