During his ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ in Hong Kong, Canadian singer The Weeknd engaged with local culture through high-profile social interactions and musical tributes.

In mid-October, the singer met with Hong Kong film icons Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Carina Lau at a private dinner. The meeting gained significant social media attention, with The Weeknd further signaling his appreciation for Hong Kong cinema by using Faye Wong’s song ‘Dream Person’ in a social media post.

Following these interactions, The Weeknd performed at the Kai Tak Sports Park. During the opening night of the residency, he debuted a new single titled ‘Hong Kong’, which incorporates a musical sample from Faye Wong’s classic Cantonese song ‘Seasonal Wind’. The performance and accompanying music video utilized a cinematic aesthetic inspired by 1990s Hong Kong films.
