In July 2026 Disney announced a R‑rated director’s cut of the 2008 film *The X‑Files: I Want to Believe* to mark the 30‑year anniversary, slated for release on 14 August on Disney+ and Hulu. The cut, retitled *The X‑Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn* (Russian for “Victor Frankenstein”), restores horror‑focused scenes removed for the original PG‑13 theatrical version.
