Theatrical adaptations of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four have been staged in Scotland and Greece.

In Scotland, a collaborative production between the Dundee Rep, Edinburgh’s Lyceum, and Glasgow’s Citizen features a script by Chris Hannan. Directed by Dominic Hill, the play incorporates speculative biography regarding Orwell’s medical history and utilizes industrial staging to depict the state of Oceania.

In Greece, a separate production directed by and starring Giorgos Papageorgiou is entering its second season. This version, featuring an adaptation by Elena Triantafyllopoulou and live music, is scheduled for performances at the Dipylon Theatre and the Avlaia Theatre in Thessaloniki.
