Developments: 2. Hanoi authorities have proposed a master plan to transform Thu Le Park into a specialized thematic park focused on wildlife conservation and green space. The 19-hectare project aims to divide the area into open public spaces and a core zone for breeding and displaying animals. Key elements of the redevelopment include removing existing perimeter fences to allow direct street access and creating pedestrian links to the S8 metro station. The zoo component is planned to transition to an ‘Eco-Zoo’ model, utilizing semi-wild environments with ecological moats and reinforced glass rather than traditional iron cages. To protect the nearby Voi Phuc Temple, the plan suggests replacing high-noise amusement areas with festival squares and green buffers. The implementation of this adjustment may require the relocation of approximately 37 households, affecting about 150 residents living along the Kim Ma and Cau Giay routes. Local authorities are currently seeking community feedback on the proposal. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-16: Thủ Lệ Park renovation to feature Eco-Zoo and open spaces Hanoi plans to renovate Thủ Lệ Park by removing perimeter walls, converting the zoo into an Eco-Zoo, and relocating noisy amusement areas to protect the nearby Voi Phục Temple. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/th-l-park-renovation-to-feature-eco-zoo-and-open-spaces ### 2026-10-13: Thu Le Park redevelopment plan may require relocation of 37 households Hanoi plans to transform Thu Le Park into a special thematic park for wildlife conservation and public recreation, potentially requiring the relocation of 37 households in Giang Vo Ward. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/thu-le-park-redevelopment-plan-may-require-relocation-of-37-households --- Cite as: Thu Le Park redevelopment in Hanoi.
