The Hungarian avant-garde metal project Thy Catafalque, led by Tamás Kátai, has released two singles in anticipation of its thirteenth album, ‘XIII: Sárga erdő’ (Yellow Forest), scheduled for release on November 20 via Season of Mist.

The first single, ‘Búcsú a piros madártól’ (A Farewell to the Red Bird), was accompanied by a music video filmed near Makó, Hungary, which Kátai described as intentionally maintaining a ‘human vibe’ through its imperfections. The second single, ‘Tömbök’ (Masses), features vocals from Gábor Veres and Ivett Dudás, alongside contributions from various musicians including Dario Cei on flute.

The upcoming album represents a technical milestone for the project, as it is the first to feature a live drummer instead of programmed rhythms. The production involves thirty-four musicians and a twenty-voice male choir, incorporating diverse instruments such as the sitar, kamancheh, and zither.
