Curated by art historian Jaime Brihuega, the exhibition explores the connection between Salvador Dalí and the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud. The showcase features approximately 130 works, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, and videos. Organized into chronological sections, the exhibition examines how Dalí’s personal traumas and Freud’s writings, specifically ‘The Interpretation of Dreams,’ influenced the artist’s ‘paranoiac-critical method.’ In addition to Dalí’s own pieces, the display incorporates works by intellectual contemporaries and influences such as Sigmund Freud, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Jean Arp, and Santiago Ramón y Cajal. The collection includes items sourced from various international institutions, including the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Reina Sofía, and the Freud Museum in London. The exhibition is scheduled to remain open to the public until January 24, 2027. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-24: Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum hosts Dalí Freud exhibition The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid presents ‘El universo freudiano de Dalí’, an exhibition of 130 works exploring the link between Salvador Dalí’s surrealism and Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theories. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/thyssen-bornemisza-museum-hosts-salvador-dal-exhibition ### 2026-10-19: Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum hosts Dalí and Freud exhibition The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid presents a major exhibition exploring the link between Salvador Dalí’s surrealist work and Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theories through 130 masterpieces. 8 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/thyssen-bornemisza-museum-hosts-salvador-dal-and-sigmund-freud-exhibition --- Cite as: Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum Dalí exhibition.
