Sources: 34. Developments: 5. Tiburones de La Guaira prepared for the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) 2026-2027 season by adding six new players to their roster, including imports Caleb Smith and Ramón Santos. Player Yangervis Solarte noted that the team aimed to overcome previous failures to reach the postseason under manager Fernando Tatís Sr. The season officially commenced on October 12 at the José Bernardo Pérez Stadium in Valencia. In the inaugural matchup, Tiburones de La Guaira defeated the defending champion Navegantes del Magallanes with a score of 10-6. Yangervis Solarte was a standout performer, contributing four runs, including a two-run home run, while pitcher Alberto Mota earned the win. The season launch included a solemn moment of silence to honor victims of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela in June, recognizing the rescue dog Tsunami for his assistance in saving 26 people. As the competitive cycle continues, Tiburones de La Guaira secured a high-scoring 16-13 victory against Leones del Caracas at the Estadio Universitario. The game featured 28 hits and included a late-inning home run by Yangervis Solarte that secured the win. The intense rivalry also saw a “brief bench-clearing altercation” during the final innings before officials restored order. Tiburones also demonstrated offensive depth by overcoming a deficit to beat Navegantes del Magallanes 8-6 in Valencia. However, the team faced setbacks against Bravos de Margarita. In one matchup at Estadio Nueva Esparta, Bravos utilized a 14-hit performance to win 10-2. In a separate contest at Fortín de Guatamare, Bravos defeated Tiburones 9-5 in a game featuring the league’s first grand slam of the season, hit by Moisés Gómez. This loss contributed to a difficult period for the team, which suffered four consecutive losses following sweeps by Bravos and Caribes de Anzoátegui. ## Claims - The 2026-2027 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico season begins in October 2026.
