Efforts to implement Chile’s Extended Producer Responsibility (REP) Law through tire recycling have expanded from regional municipal initiatives to large-scale industrial partnerships.

In the O’Higgins region, a collaborative campaign involving the Seremi of the Environment and several municipalities successfully collected approximately 40 tons of end-of-life tires. These materials were slated for transport to a plant in Mostazal for valorization to prevent landfill waste.

Following these regional efforts, the mining company Codelco established a strategic agreement with the collective management system Valora Más. This partnership focuses on recycling Category A tires used in smaller vehicles and mining equipment. At the El Teniente Division, the initiative has already processed more than 1,500 tons of tires, utilizing a system that allows for either zero-cost delivery or monetization through documented traceability.
