The 57th Feria y Festival Cultural Alfeñique continues in Toluca, running through November 2, 2026. Inaugurated by Mayor Ricardo Moreno Bastida, the event features over 1,200 activities and highlights approximately 58 artisan families specializing in traditional sugar craft. To manage the expected 4 million visitors, the city has implemented mobility strategies like the ‘Alfeñique Bus’ and security measures including facial recognition and drones.

Amidst the festival, Mayor Moreno reported significant economic developments for the city in 2026, noting over one billion dollars in combined foreign and national investment. Approximately 80 percent of these projects—primarily in the automotive, pharmaceutical, chemical, and food sectors—have materialized, creating more than 10,000 new jobs.

In response to previous public criticism regarding infrastructure, the municipal administration has highlighted urban maintenance efforts, such as the restoration of 20 traditional community laundry facilities in the La Teresona neighborhood that had been abandoned for six years, alongside various beautification projects in public parks and plazas. Local parking associations have also indicated a willingness to extend service hours during festival concerts, provided that security and lighting standards are maintained.
