As part of the Toronto Blue Jays’ 50th anniversary season, the franchise unveiled a new Hall of Excellence at Rogers Centre. The facility, located on the concourse behind right field, replaces the former Level of Excellence and is intended to honor significant players, coaches, managers, builders, and broadcasters.

During a ceremony held ahead of a game against the Seattle Mariners, franchise icon Buck Martinez was inducted into the hall. Martinez, who has been with the organization for over 40 years as a player, manager, and broadcaster, was the featured inductee. The ceremony included a ceremonial first pitch and caused a delay to the scheduled game, which subsequently commenced at 3:49 p.m. ET. 

Other honorees enshrined in the new hall include José Bautista, Roy Halladay, and Dave Stieb.
