The Toronto Blue Jays have designated outfielder Jesus Sanchez for assignment and recalled Rudy Martin Jr. from Triple-A Buffalo.

Sanchez, 28, has appeared in 99 games this season, batting .260 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs. His removal follows recent defensive struggles and a batting slump where he hit .216 over his last 102 at-bats. Sanchez was originally acquired by Toronto from the Houston Astros in February.

Martin, 30, will make his first Major League Baseball appearance.
