Toronto FC has experienced a period of difficulty in Major League Soccer, struggling to maintain their playoff push. Following a 2-0 loss to Nashville SC, the team entered a losing streak that extended to three consecutive defeats against Orlando, St. Louis, and Nashville. This decline has dropped the club to 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Midfielder Jonathan Osorio indicated that the team needs to improve in areas such as clinical finishing. The club's performance has been further complicated by the MLS international break, which impacted roster depth as key players were called to national duties.
