Sources: 25. Developments: 5. The Ottawa Senators have maintained a strong start to their season, securing five wins in their first six games. Most recently, the team defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-1 at the Prudential Center, marking only the third time in franchise history that Ottawa has won five of its first six games. Tim Stützle led the offensive effort with one goal and one assist, while Shane Pinto, Stephen Halliday, and Tyler Kleven also contributed goals. Goaltender Linus Ullmark recorded 29 saves to help the team reach a 5-1-0 record. However, the Senators are facing mounting injury concerns. During the victory over the Devils, defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo left the game with an upper-body injury following a collision with Anthony Mantha. This adds to a growing list of absences for the team, which includes Jake Sanderson, Artem Zub, and forward William Eklund, the latter of whom is expected to be sidelined for an extended period due to an ankle injury. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-13: Ottawa Senators defeat New Jersey Devils 4-1 The Ottawa Senators defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-1, led by Tim Stützle and Linus Ullmark, to improve to 5-1-0 on the season despite facing multiple player injuries. 11 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ottawa-senators-defeat-new-jersey-devils-4-1 ### 2026-10-06: Ottawa Senators see early success from Eklund and Stutzle William Eklund and Tim Stutzle are providing strong early-season offensive production for the Ottawa Senators despite a recent 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ottawa-senators-see-early-success-from-eklund-and-stutzle ### 2026-10-05: Ottawa Senators defeat Toronto Maple Leafs in season opener The Ottawa Senators defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 in their season opener, led by new captain Thomas Chabot following a major offseason involving the trade of Brady Tkachuk. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ottawa-senators-defeat-toronto-maple-leafs-in-season-opener ### 2026-10-02: Ottawa Senators defeat Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 in season opener The Ottawa Senators opened their season with a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, featuring a winning goal by Stephen Halliday and a goal from new captain Thomas Chabot. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/toronto-maple-leafs-prepare-for-october-schedule-and-senators-matchup ### 2026-09-24: Toronto Maple Leafs defeat Ottawa Senators in NHL preseason The Toronto Maple Leafs closed their NHL preseason with strong wins against the Ottawa Senators, including a 6-1 victory led by goals and assists from John Tavares and Auston Matthews. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ottawa-senators-suffer-two-pre-season-losses-to-maple-leafs --- Cite as: Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils NHL matchup.
